The Catalan Radio and Television Broadcasting Corporation set up TVC MULTIMÈDIA in 1999 with the aim of commercially exploiting production in the information technology field. As part of this strategy, TVC MULTIMÈDIA set up a production center called SAM, for audiovisual meteorology services.

SAM's multimedia output employs sophisticated production methods and cutting-edge technology. It is little wonder that its products are eagerly snapped up by buyers worldwide.

TVC MULTIMÈDIA produces a host of products. We would particularly like to highlight the following:

• Thematic channels for other TV stations. It produces the whole of the Méteo weather channel, which is broadcast 18 hours a day by the Canal Satélite Digital pay network.
  
• Interactive services for digital channels, which TVC also pioneered in Spain. TVC MULTIMÈDIA produces interactive applications for the Vía Digital platform (Interactive Weather and Traffic Reports) and for Canal Satélite Digital (Méteo Interactivo). There are other interactive productions on the drawing boards which will be made available in the near future.
  
• Production services for the Internet, WAP (providing Internet browsing on cell phones), radio stations, and local TV stations. SAM supplies weather data in a wide range of formats (maps, bulletins, tables, etc.) to over twenty Internet portals (including some of the biggest Spanish operators like La Vanguardia, Telépolis, World Online, Alehoop, and Menta) as well as to Portuguese cable television.
